DMF Dimethylformamide

Dimethylformamide (DMF) is a high-boiling, polar aprotic organic solvent widely used in chemical synthesis and industrial applications. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a faint amine-like odor and is miscible with water and most organic solvents. DMF is valued for its excellent solvating ability for polar and nonpolar compounds, making it essential in pharmaceuticals, polymers, resins, and petrochemical industries. It is commonly used as a reaction medium in peptide synthesis, acrylic fiber production, and polyurethane manufacturing. DMF also serves as an intermediate in various organic reactions such as formylation and catalysis processes.
